Edelstahl Rosswag and Rosswag Engineering: tradition and innovation
Who we are
Rosswag GmbH is mainly known under the name Edelstahl Rosswag for its more than 100 years of experience in working with metal materials. Founded in 1911, the family-run company with over 220 employees is one of the world's leading suppliers of open-die forged products weighing up to 4.5 tons each, which are manufactured in-house in an integrated process chain. The in-depth know-how in the manufacturing and testing processes is reflected in the high quality of the end products, which are used under high loads in the aerospace industry or in energy machine construction, for example. With over 30 employees in the quality assurance department alone, individual process flow charts are defined in order to meet the specific requirements for mechanical and technological component properties. In addition, after the forging process, heat treatment or CNC machining, the products are tested for quality-relevant properties in our own testing and materials laboratory.
The Rosswag Engineering division, which was founded in 2014 and has over 15 employees, is expanding its product portfolio to include additive manufacturing with metal using the laser powder bed fusion process (selective laser melting). This enables the production of functionally optimized, metallic components for prototype and series applications. The expertise built up over decades in the field of materials science and materials technology, combined with the holistic, in-house process chain, serves as the basis for establishing and expanding this future-oriented area. The globally unique process chain was expanded in 2017 to include in-house metal powder production for material qualifications. Rosswag was the first company to be certified by TÜV SÜD both for the production of metal powder and for the series production of functional components in the field of additive manufacturing. The certification for the production of additively manufactured semi-finished products in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive is completed. Rosswag's research-intensive innovation strategy has been honored with numerous awards in recent years.
