Lightweight bearings made possible by #MetalAM 🔧
The latest issue of Konstruktionspraxis features a joint project by Franke GmbH and Rosswag Engineering highlighting how Metal #AdditiveManufacturing supports functional lightweight design.
The article shows how a highly loaded bearing was redesigned specifically for additive manufacturing. By aligning the geometry with load paths and integrating multiple functions, the component achieved a clear reduction in weight and installation space, while maintaining stiffness and service life.
At Rosswag, we contributed our expertise across the AM value chain – from material selection and process know-how to metal 3D printing and post-processing. The project illustrates how additively manufactured metal components can be used reliably in industrial applications, not only in development but also in real operation!
