Additive manufacturing in mold making

Injection molding - next level!

In close cooperation with Zecha Hartmetall and Kramski, we at Rosswag GmbH have developed and manufactured an innovative sprue distributor for use in injection molds. Thanks to additive manufacturing, we were able to create complex, conformal cooling channels that enable efficient temperature control of the melt. This leads to a significant optimization of cycle times in series production and improves the quality of the end product.

Material

High-strength tool steel

Special feature

Hardness over 60 HRC

Use

Mold making, injection molding

Special material Specialis(R)

The abrasive plastic posed a particular challenge, placing exceptionally high demands on the material used. To ensure maximum tool life, our maraging Specialis® was used. This was specifically hardened to 60 HRC in order to withstand the extreme loads and ensure high wear resistance.

Strong partnerships

This project impressively demonstrates how the combination of additive manufacturing, precise CNC machining and innovative material solutions can create high-performance tools. The sprue distributor is an example of the future-oriented possibilities that arise through the use of modern manufacturing technologies and customized materials.

"The additively manufactured sprue distributor made of high-strength Specialis tool steel combines maximum load capacity with precisely integrated cooling channels. The result: more efficient temperature control, reduced cycle times and an extended tool life."
